Garlic Bread + Cheese
I cannot believe we haven’t actually posted a recipe for this before! Garlic bread is our thing!
Still, I’m complaining, because that means I got to eat some when we made it for pictures. And it was delicious. Garlic bread is amazing by itself, but add cheese and you get double amazing. It’s a match made in heaven! The perfect bite! The best way to satisfy your carb cravings! Okay, I’m done.
Garlic Bread 101
Any good pizza place or Italian restaurant has their own version of garlic bread. They’ll call them bread sticks. Or cheese sticks. And for how similar they all are to each other, there are definitely some that are better than others. Crazy, right? When the ingredients are more or less the same, what separates good garlic bread from not as good garlic bread?
First, the obvious thing is Chef Shamy Garlic Butter. Sorry, but it’s just the best out there. It’s absolutely perfect for garlic bread. The slight sharpness of the Parmesan cheese and the hint of basil elevate the flavor beyond your normal garlic butter.
Next, the bread itself. You’ve got to have good bread. A nice French or Italian loaf works well. I always see whatever my local grocery store has in the bakery section. Most will have bread that was baked fresh that day. Or search out local bakeries– they’re bound to have a bread that will be delicious and soft.
Cheese. Everyone loves cheese. And when it comes to Cheesy Garlic Bread, the more cheese the better, right? There might be many differing opinions about which cheese to use, but I like to keep it simple. I use half cheddar, half mozzarella. Keep it simple with what you have, there’s no need to go buy a block of expensive specialty cheese.
The Perfect Side
Garlic bread is the perfect side. Use it to soak up some extra sauce from your lasagna. Dip it into your seasonal soup! Have a piece to compliment your lunchtime salad. It’s so quick and easy, you’ll find yourself making it often.
