Banana Split
A Banana Split is one of the most classic ice cream dishes ever! And we honestly didn’t think we could find any way to improve it. But people, I’ve got to say, we were wrong!
Grilled bananas was not something I was very interested in doing. It’s been on our “list” for a while now, but I was skeptical. Who wants a warm, soft banana? Well, now that we’ve done it, the answer is EVERYONE! I’ll never eat another banana without grilling it first!
Grilled Bananas
Grilling the bananas adds so much to a split largely thanks to our Fresh Churned Cinnamon Brown Sugar Honey Butter. The butter does two things:
Flavor. It adds a delicious cinnamon sweetness to the bananas, which brings the flavor of the split as a whole up like seven notches.
The second is caramelization. This is key to any grilled dessert. The butter has enough sugar in it to get great caramelization on the bananas.
Toppings
A banana split typically includes ice cream (vanilla is the classic), hot fudge sauce, maraschino cherries, and whipped cream. I love building a split with my own toppings. You can control how much of everything you put on, and omit things you don’t like.
But feel free to experiment with different toppings! And have some fun with it: think outside the box!
Enjoy!
