We’ve all had them, we all love them. Tater Tot Kebabs are the best way to consume these delicious frozen potatoes! It’s a really simple recipe: perfect for a party, tailgating, or a lazy weekend snack.
Put the tater tots on some wooden skewers, brush them with our Fresh Churned Garlic Butter, and top with cheese and bacon. You could dip them in sour cream or even ranch dressing. Why not try some ketchup or barbecue sauce? Or even Fry Sauce, the big condiment in our home state of Utah!
Cheesy Garlic Bacon
Potatoes, even tater tots, can be bland. So Garlic Butter really helps them taste better. It’s full of garlic and salt, and adds a lot of flavor the tater tots.
We added a bunch of shredded cheddar cheese on top of these kebabs. Say it with me now: There’s no such thing as too much cheese!
But the type of cheese you use is interchangeable. Why not try Pepperjack for a spicy kick? Or creamy Mozzarella? You’re safe to use whatever is in your fridge.
The other really crucial ingredient here is bacon. Bacon is amazing and delicious (we all know that), and makes everything better. But it’s also an important component of the whole. You need the saltiness and crunch of the crumbled bacon to cut through the richness and fat of the other ingredients.
Our recipe calls for the kebabs to be suspended over a baking dish, rather than just laid on a baking tray. While this might seem like an unnecessary complication, it’s actually important! Using a baking dish creates space underneath the kebabs, which ensures even distribution of heat around the whole tater tot.
This way, they cook more quickly, you don’t have to flip them halfway through. The tater tots will need to be slightly thawed anyway, or you won’t be able to put them on the skewer.
