Halloween Candy Caramel Corn Snack Mix

Halloween Candy

The time has come! It’s Halloween, and you know what that means: CANDY! Lots and lots of candy. It can be hard to know how to keep kids from eating 40 pounds of candy in one week. When I was a kid, I remember one year my mom put our candy in the freezer and we could pull out pieces throughout the next couple of months.

Have you tried to eat frozen Skittles? It’s rough. I could have waited until they thawed, but I was like 10, I wasn’t going to wait to eat candy!

The candy in this recipe is fun and delicious! But you can also sneak other candy in here too. Chop up some candy bars and substitute them for the M&Ms, or substitute Twix pieces for the Rolos. You can fully customize this recipe to what you have in your house.

Caramel Corn

We’ve done caramel corn before. And it’s fun, but can be a little difficult to do. So we’ve really simplified things here. PS, if you want to make true caramel corn, use the caramel from this recipe. Otherwise, start by popping some popcorn. Avoid popcorn in a bag– those kernels are already buttered and salted, and you want to control those things yourself.

You might have to do several batches to make enough. Drizzle some melted Cinnamon Honey Butter over the popcorn, tossing as you do. Then drizzle some prepared caramel topping over the popcorn, again, tossing while you do it. We used an ice cream topping, but there are lots you could choose.

Then add your candy, and you’ve got the perfect Halloween Snack Mix!

Snack Mix

We could have called this a “party mix,” because that’s where this snack would really shine! A big bowl of this at a party would go quickly. Or you could have a snack mix bar, where you have all the ingredients and people could make it how they wanted (if someone is allergic to nuts, for example, they could leave the pecans out of theirs).

We’ve already made this again– it’s so delicious! And so easy!

Enjoy!
