Cinnamon Strawberry Banana Ice Cream Sundae

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For…

ICE CREAM!

Everyone loves a good ice cream sundae. Especially in the summer. When I was growing up, there was always ice cream in the house. On Sunday afternoons, I would fill a bowl with 4 or 5 scoops of ice cream and slowly make my way through it. Every week, my mother tried to convince me that I didn’t need that much, and that maybe I should only have a scoop or two. But I just loved ice cream so much! My tastes haven’t changed. I still love it.

Sweet and Simple Ice Cream Sundae

Variety in ice cream is one of my favorite things about it. And if you’re making an ice cream sundae, the possibilities are endless. Because the toppings are endless.

This particular combination is one of my favorites, because it feels so light and fresh. Sometimes ice cream can sit a little heavy, but this doesn’t. The first step is to melt down some Chef Shamy Cinnamon Brown Sugar Butter. But wait, you say. Butter on ice cream? Well, if you deconstruct some of the ingredients, butter and brown sugar are the first steps in making a caramel. So melt it down and toss it with some fresh bananas and strawberries, and you’ve essentially caramelized your fruit toppings. It tastes SO GOOD!

Vanilla vs. the Rest

Call me boring if you want, but I really like vanilla ice cream. In an ice cream sundae situation, sometimes vanilla is the best choice because it will compliment any topping. But you could mix this up. Try it with chocolate. Or strawberry. Ooh, or cookies and cream! Pick your favorite or use all three!

When I was little, we had one of those crank ice cream machines that used salt. I don’t remember why or how we did it, but I remember that homemade ice cream = delicious. Do you make your own ice cream? If not, try this recipe; you don’t even need an ice cream maker!
