Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus
Our Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus with Brie is bound to become your favorite party appetizer: it’s easy to make and oh-so-delicious! We’ve wrapped things in puff pastry before. It’s a great way to make recipes a little fancy without doing a bunch of extra work.
But we thought the combination of asparagus and Brie cheese would be tasty; and we were right! Let’s talk through this easy recipe.
Puff Pastry
I love puff pastry — the flaky layers, the buttery flavor, the crisp texture. You could wrap a shoe in puff pastry and it would taste good.
A pack of frozen puff pastry at your local supermarket has two sheets. (Don’t forget to follow the box instructions on thawing it!) This recipe uses both sheets. Unfold them and roll them out gently. We don’t need them to be bigger, it’s just to smooth the creases out.
Cut each sheet into four equal (ish) squares. Now you have eight smaller squares of pastry and the assembly can begin!
Assembly
Twist the square so that you have a diamond — a corner pointing up and a corner pointing down. Place a small block of Brie cheese in the middle of the pastry and three spears of asparagus on top of that.
Brush the asparagus with some of our Fresh Churned Garlic Butter (melted) and then fold the sides over to make a little bundle.
Don’t forget to egg wash! Egg wash is essential — it will help the pastry get a golden color and help it stick together during baking.
Enjoy!
