Ghost Pepper Passion Fruit

What happens when you combine sugar, butter, and ghost pepper? Utter deliciousness.

In 2007 the Ghost Pepper was rated as the hottest pepper in the world!  A Habañero is the hottest natural occurring pepper, but the Ghost Pepper is a hybrid created to be 400 times hotter than Tobasco sauce.  Currently in 2016 the world reigning hottest pepper is the Carolina Reaper, which is 2x the heat of a Ghost Pepper.

Back in September I discovered some fantastic caramels and my favorite one happened to be a Passion Fruit Ghost Pepper flavored one!  All I could think was, “There’s no way this is ghost pepper…”  and then I tried it.  It gives quite a kick.  Not as much as eating the pepper itself, but for those who like anything with some heat, it was perfect.  JulieAnn from JulieAnn Caramels provided me with some so I could make a special batch of my famous pudding cookies

The recipe is very simple, especially if you’ve already made the chocolate chip version of this recipe.  Consequently, if you’re not in the mood for spicy cookies, the Sea Salt Caramels are a fantastic substitution.  (Just make sure to buy enough to make up for what you eat while you’re cooking. Haha.)

                 

Ghost Pepper Passion Fruit Caramel Pudding Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Baking Soda
  • Ghost Pepper Passion Fruit Caramels

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º.

In a large bowl, mix together the pudding, butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla.  Cream until smooth.  Then add the eggs until blended, then add the flour and baking soda until blended.

Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.  Using a spoon or strong tablespoon, put the dough into balls on the cookie sheet.  Now cut each caramel into 3 pieces and press down onto your dough.  Bake 10-12 minutes.  Remove and let cool.  Makes about 36 cookies depending on how much cookie dough you eat during the process.

Note:  DO NOT forget the baking soda, this is an important step for your cookies to bake correctly.

Ingredients

  • Chef Shamy European Style Whipped Butter
  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Tablespoon Vanilla
  • 3 Eggs
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • ½ Tablespoon Baking Soda
  • Ghost Pepper Passion Fruit Caramels
Instructions
